I recently bought a new car. I’m not saying this to boast, but because one issue during the purchase really annoyed me.

✅ Several dealerships I contacted asked me if I worked in a liberal profession such as a lawyer or a doctor? Hmm, on the phone I smile and reply that I don’t, but I am an accountant, or rather, the owner of an accounting firm. Does that not count? To which I receive the answer, ‘I’m sorry, but no.’

Therefore, with this post, I hope to initiate and help the 70,000 accounting firms in Poland—because that’s how many registered firms there are—so that we, too, can be included in this esteemed group.

✅ Therefore, dear dealers of all brands in Poland, I address an enormous request to you, on behalf of myself, my colleagues in the industry, and the National Chamber of Accounting Offices, where I have the honor of serving as a Board Member: please consider our profession.

The accounting profession is incredibly important. We are responsible for correct tax settlements and other financial obligations of businesses. The accurate and reliable work of an accountant is crucial for a company’s financial stability. We are often the first point of contact for our clients when they establish a company. I often repeat that we are the ones who somewhat ‘deal the cards.’ A client comes to an accountant, who then recommends and directs the client to a legal advisor or a notary.
That’s why, in addition to running the Hejne Accounting Services Office for almost 12 years, my huge dream and mission is to change the perception of the accounting profession and ensure it is appreciated equally with other liberal professions, such as lawyers or notaries. I already see this change, but I want more—I think we all want more.
